Marble Mazer

Tilt

Tilt isn't doing anything

Tilt is off until you turn it on. Pause the game (the button top right), open settings, and tap enable tilt. You'll need to do this once each time you launch the app — it's deliberate, so the game never reads your device's orientation without you asking it to.

If you've enabled it and the marble still ignores you, the game will say so rather than leave you guessing: it checks whether motion is actually arriving and falls back to the joystick if it isn't. Drag anywhere on the board to steer with the on-screen stick.

The marble drifts when I'm holding still

Your zero point is off — the game thinks level is somewhere other than where you're actually holding the phone. Pause → settings → recalibrate, while holding the phone the way you want to play. Do it on the couch if you play on the couch; lying down and sitting up need different zero points.

It's too twitchy / too sluggish

Pause → settings has sensitivity and responsiveness. Sensitivity is how far the marble leans for a given tilt; responsiveness is how quickly it reacts. There are also invert options if an axis feels backwards to you.

I'd rather not tilt at all

Don't enable it. Drag anywhere on the board and a virtual joystick appears under your thumb. Every board is completable this way.

Playing

What do the grades mean?

Your grade comes from how many times you fell, not how fast you were. Time is the tiebreak.

What are the guard rails?

If a board is beating you, the rails toggle in the top-right of the play screen puts walls along the drop edges so you can't fall off. It's there so a board can't become a wall you never get past.

It costs you the run's standing: a run with rails up is marked assisted, and an unassisted run always beats an assisted one no matter the time. Assisted clears also don't count toward the flawless-clear marbles.

I can't get past a board

Nothing is locked. Every one of the 22 boards is open from the start — pause, leave the board, and pick a different one. Come back to it later.

Why can't I rotate my phone?

The game is portrait-only on purpose. Steering maps your phone's tilt directly onto the board's axes, and that mapping is only correct in portrait — rotating would swap and invert the controls mid-roll.

Progress and data

Where is my progress stored?

On your iPhone, and only there. There is no account and no server, so nothing syncs between devices — your records on your phone are yours alone. See the privacy policy for exactly what's saved.

I deleted the app. Can I get my records back?

Not from us — we never had them. If the app's data was included in an iPhone backup you made before deleting it, restoring that backup restores the save. Otherwise it's gone.

What does “erase progress” do?

Settings → erase progress (it asks twice) clears your board records, progression, unlocked marbles and interface state, and resets your settings. It cannot be undone.

Does it work offline?

Entirely. The app never uses the network. Aeroplane mode changes nothing.

Purchases

How do I unlock the other marbles?

By playing. Marbles unlock from clean clears (no falls, no rails) and from playing on consecutive days. There are no in-app purchases in this version — nothing in the game is for sale, so there's nothing to buy or restore.

Requirements

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, running iOS 16.4 or later. It is not an iPad app. The 16.4 minimum is real rather than cautious: the 3D engine uses JavaScript features that older versions can't run at all.

It won't install, or it crashes on launch

Check Settings → General → About on your iPhone for your iOS version. If it's below 16.4, the app can't run. Otherwise please email us with your model and version — that's a bug and we'd like to fix it.
